Cyber awareness: dream or reality?
Does the word ‘cyber’ make you dream?
Perhaps it appeals more to cybersecurity professionals than to those who are on the receiving end of it. For the general public, cybersecurity is no doubt better represented by cybermalveillance.fr than by Campus Cyber or ANSSI.
To say that 90% of attacks start with human error, and that before hacking the system you have to hack the brain (‘brain hacking’): that isn’t exactly original. But to say that changing behaviour is complicated because cyber matters bore users more than they fascinate them – that really gives you food for thought.
At the Forum des Compétences, which brings together cybersecurity decision-makers (CISOs, DPOs, awareness managers and risk managers) alongside banks and insurance companies, this premise served as the starting point for a fruitful discussion on cybersecurity awareness.
To learn, you have to want to.
In the bancassurance sector, regulatory compliance is key. Basel, Solvency, GDPR, banking secrecy and the LPM. And in each case, human behaviour is central. Balancing learning, a cyber security culture, strong reflexes and motivation therefore becomes a real challenge.
But above all, those responsible for digital onboarding are sorely lacking the tools to measure feedback. All too often, they are working in the dark.
