Analysis of a cryptojacking incident
Cryptojacking is an online threat that involves using a computer’s resources to mine cryptocurrencies, designed to remain completely invisible to the user. The malware had attempted to use a computer to mine BEAM. The attacker was earning around $750 a day into their wallet. More than 2,000 workers (zombie machines) were involved in mining for this wallet.
Cyber security measures to protect yourself: good IT hygiene, keeping your software up to date, and only downloading from recognised app stores.
